A sword shrine is a type of small structure where you can upgrade your sword/handle for SP. Generally each blade also has its own weapon arts, depending on the upgrade you have set up.
There are currently six shrine locations.

After completing Pip’s quest to close the Vinelands void rift, you will get the “Recall” cantrip. Recall teleports you to a sword shrine of your choice, providing you’ve unlocked it.
Now if for some reason you don't have the time nor want to use the time to watch a video, and have a faster reading speed, I guess here's a general overview of each Sword Shrine location. - CryoCross
Overgrown Forest: Find the town ruins in the forest-should stick out like a sore thumb with yellow worn down walls; the sword is in a gray brick building.
Flora Fields (Dark Cave): I recommend going from the Flora Fields side, as its the closest to it-basically head straight in, then turn right when you can. If you're going in from the Overgrown Forest find the small thin tunnel to the right in the main area of the Dark Cave, then keep going until you see a red mushroom on the wall and turn left; you could also hug the wall to the left until you feel a turn to the left as well.
Vinelands: Find the same pillar that Jakkle currently live in. Relative to Bogtown, it's to the left of when you leave the inn there. Behind the pillar there is a set of rock-faces you can jump on as parkour all the way up until you find the Sword Shrine.
Magus: Find the city inn, and somewhere behind it around to the right there will be a ladder that leads up the cliff, leading to more rock parkour and stairs. This will lead you to the Sword Shrine at the top.
Icy Plateau: This one I honestly recommend watching a video for as this is essentially a maze after all. However, you're confident enough in your reading and comprehension for this! So assuming you start at the Chilly Approach, take the first right, then left, then right, then left again. If this is done, you should see a natural set of snowy stairs when you turn right (and maybe a monster of this region here). Do not take the stairs, and continue to the right where you will see a 2 corridors, one visible one to the left, and one slightly thinner directly forward. Take the one directly forward thinner corridor and that will lead you to the Sword Shrine here.
Deadlands: From the Caci Field entrance, drop down and keep hugging the wall to the right until you stumble on a tunnel that leads into the Void Cliffs. Assuming you don't fall into the Void on accident, you will find the Sword Shrine around the right of the main area opposite to the church with ALICE in there.
